"Culture and Arts Report for Ecological Transformation" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paker

The report "Culture and Arts for Ecological Transformation," prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Paker, faculty member at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, has been published.

According to the report...

Ecology is one of the issues humanity must not postpone. The culture and arts world can contribute to the solution by thinking together.

Taking into account the means of communication that culture and the arts have with the public, the report aims to bring the public into this discussion as well.

It contains recommendations for culture and arts institutions and events to become sustainable. These recommendations include using energy from sustainable sources, trying to reuse waste wherever possible, traveling less and supporting local producers.

According to the report, there are two main relationships between culture and the arts and a sustainable lifestyle: reducing the ecological footprint of the culture and arts sector, and using the sector's creative power of expression to communicate the necessary ecological goals to wide audiences.

For the culture and arts sector to reduce its ecological footprint, institutions, artists and designers first need to adopt green practices.

The report also points to the potential of culture and the arts to raise awareness of the climate crisis. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Paker emphasizes this potential in her report: "Projects, data and tables do not move you to action. People are moved by stories."
